low budget bracket motor

trying to put together a super lo budget 440 for a bracket car, just tring to get the car to the track. I have a 76 low compresion motor with low miles that is in good shape and was thinking of just cam intake and headers, maybe mill the heads for more compression,
any ideas for a camshaft, drivabilty is not an issue.
thanks.

I would swap out those POS pistons for some real pistons. If the bore looks good, its an easy swap. Just hit it with a hone and install the new set. KB237 These will get you 9.3-9.5 to 1 compression depending on the head cc's

Have a GOOD valve job done and throw in a decent cam and intake, your good to go.

car has 3.91 gears now, with 727 I have afew converters to choose from, a factory high stall a mp175k and a ptc that will probably go 3500 to 3800 depending on torqe

Mike I agree with the pistons and have them on the way, plan to do some port cleanup and a good valve job and use the thinnest head gasket possible, any cam recomedations because of cost for now i would like to stay with a hyd cam

MR Gasket p/n 1135 will get you a steel shim embossed head gasket, .020" thick

Voodoo 60305

One of the best things you can do while your in the heads is to upgrade the valves themselves. Look into these babies! Dont be fooled by the price, they are TOP quality! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOPAR...Q5fAccessories
