valve train issues

Ok, well since i've last been on here i've gotten quite a bit done. The engine is completely finished and in the truck. Went with a set of Cometic .060" head gaskets. I checked the clearance between the rocker arms and valves, and depending where the cam is at on it's rotation, i can easily move every rocker arm...Ran it with the VC off, and noise is deffinitly coming from the top end (obviously too much clearance) Anyone else had this problem before? I'm thinking the thicker head gasket is the issue here, but haven't been able to find any longer pushrods for this.

I'm still using the stock rocker arms, Comp 268H cam. Any ideas???

Get a length checking pushrod and find out the correct size pushrods. Then order a set to the proper length.

.020 longer push rod will get it back where it needs to go.... That or go back to the thinner head gasket..

can't go back to thinner head gasket, compression ratio will be way out of line for my stock cast iron heads....closest length i can find to what i need is 7.525...i actually need a 7.520, but anyone think the 7.525 will be too long?

gotta remember, this is basically the first engine i've built. I've built other engines, but just built them back to original so all this stuff is new to me. The fact that it ran when i tried to start it was a huge suprise lol

If you have hydraulic lifters you will be fine providing that still gives you some preload
