Ok here's the breakdown.

I have been trying to convince people of this for a long time. Percy's makes absolutely awesome gaskets.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PHP-66037/

I have cheap-o summit brand headers. These things leaked from day 1 with regular gaskets. I would drive for a couple of days and they would leak. It was awful. I even gave up at some point and put manifolds back on. Of course I couldn't run manifolds with a new engine build up so back on the headers went, this time with percy's gaskets.

I have been downright abusive with my headers with these gaskets. I have pried on them (to get the exhaust system off). I have kicked the mufflers as hard as I could (different time taking the exhaust off). I have allowed the entire exhaust to drop from the hangers, while still attached to the headers. Of course this flexes the hell out of the headers. I have never even bothered to re-torque these gaskets.

With all of this abuse, they have never ever leaked. Not even a little bit. Did I mention they are reusable?

I beat the hell out of my Duster.....never blew a header gasket and I always used Fel-Pro. Now collectors is a different story.

I use the soft aluminum one from Percys as well. I bought a set for my dyno runs and they have been used on about 10 engines now and still dont leak!

I cut mine out of a cereal box and coated both sides with Permatex.

Seriously. I just replaced mine with Fel-Pro. No problems.

If I could afford to buy a full box of Heiny I wouldn't care if my headers leaked or not.

Usually (If I buy Heiny) I buy the 24 oz cans @$1.99 each. That turns out to be cheper than Bud Light....in my neighborhood anyway.

Sorry Catpride22.......didin't mean to hi-jack the thread.

I used Mr. Gaskets and coated both sides with a film of Permatex Copper High temp silicone. Never had a problem.

There you go....cardboard and Permatex....

I'm guessing Spark-O-Matic doesn't sell exhaust gaskets.....

mr gasket sells b/rb exhaust gaskets at summit for 19.00 , its a multilayer just like the perseys. i have them on my bronco and if i didnt that brick would be parked or sold with the amount of time ive had to tighten the header bolts . if you use the paper type use some copper rtv around the ports (dont be scared to use alot) caution if you do use alot its possible to look bad. hahaha

I run the Remflex gaskets. The only ones I never had a leak. I've had leaks on most of them. www.remflex.com
